Is there anyone else out there who went skitso and bought everything they need for their dorm and then some? Who checks bearfacts and my berkeley app everyday just because? Who counts the days till move in day? ARGH I can't wait to go to Berkeley!

calm down :)

Dude....really, calm down. How far away do you live from Berkeley? I guess the farther away you live from campus, the more anxious you get for Move In Day. Maybe it's that very fact that I still haven't bought anything for college (I live like ten minutes away from Cal)! Ehh, maybe next Saturday...or during welcome week. But yeah, seriously, read a book or something; move in day will come soon enough.

I live about 2 hours from Berkeley. I have just been working so long at my community college...maybe I am a little overly excited to finally be going to Berkeley...perhaps even a tad neurotic...but its all good; I earned it! and so did you! YAY!

hehe..aww...i'm finishing my shopping, but i still have a few more things i would like to grab before next weekend. maybe im going overboard, maybe not. my parents are being especially giving lately, so im happy and willing to take advantage of it.

im very excited, but also kind of sad. im really close to my family here, and it will be sad to leave.

<3,

Haha...well, I understand. You just want to get away. But yeah, you have reason to get excited about going to Cal. And yeah, congrats; you're going to Berkeley!

You know, I just thought of something. If you're only two hours away and feeling like this, I wonder how the people from SoCal are handling this...

Hahahah yeah. IM SO FREAKING STOKED! PEOPLE WE ARE GOING TO BERKELEY! BERKELEY!!!! The finest institution of higher learning in the world (don't argue with me on this)

Allxgravy, what's your rooming assignment? Also, what time are you getting to Berk on move in day? Just wondering.

I think your "Berkeley Fever" is contagious...I'm getting sorta anxious now

"im very excited, but also kind of sad. im really close to my family here, and it will be sad to leave."

Izzie, it's not like Santa Cruz is a million miles away. You can go home almost any time. You can organize a weekend day trip to the Boardwalk for your new dorm mates who have never seen the Pacific Ocean!

Oh, I know, I'm still going to be very close.

I'm just saying, it's going to be strange not seeing my family every day. We're a very close-knit family and we spend a lot of time together. My sister is totally my best friend, and let's not get into the relationship with my cat...

Haha. I know I'm probably being a child about this, because many people are coming from many thousands of miles away, but I'm still going to miss 'em.

A trip to the boardwalk sounds fun. My roommate has already shown insterest in driving down to Santa Cruz one weekend and staying with my family. She loves the beaches over here.

Caljgonz, I used to love to hang out at Cal on weekends when I was at JFK HS back in the day, listening to the drummers in the lower plaza, watching the street people along Telegraph when street people used to be cool, and when People's Park was REALLY a park.

I remember walking all the way back from Cal to Richmond on a Saturday or Sunday afternoon, just for the fun of it!

You probably weren't even born yet. (disgusting)

Cal was always so much fun. Stanford is a pretty campus, but very sterile and boring.

!!! All of the REAL PEOPLE go to Cal !!!

Yeah Im excited. Im from about 5 hours away, so Im also nervous about the fact that I wont be able to see my family at all unless I fly home.

gsp,
Kennedy, huh? That's cool; I went to rhs. Not that it matters - just throwing it out there. Wow...walking from Cal to Richmond? It's a long way to walk. But once you got to Richmond, did you just walk back or did you take the bart/bus?

Yep, Cal is definately a fun place to be. Just about a week and a half to go till move in day!

Caljgonz, you know that it had to be a long time ago, because no one in his right mind would walk from Berkeley to Richmond now. There was no BART back in the stone ages, just bus 72 along San Pablo Ave. and bus 51 along University Ave.

We would also walk all over Richmond, like to Alvarado Park, where we went roller skating and sliding down the hills on cardboard boxes.

I had friends at all of the HSs in Richmond, El Cerrito, El Sobrante and Pinole, through Junior Statesman (a much different org than what it is now), church and other activities.

Richmond is definitely part of my past now, and I'm glad to see that you made it out of there to Berkeley. It may only seem like six miles, but it really is the difference between heaven and hell! If I had not left Richmond right after HS graduation, I would probably be dead or in jail!

Caljgonz, I think I am living in either building 10 or 11 (I need to check that) in Clark Kerr (in a single suite). I will be there at 8 am sharp! I'm glad my enthusiam or whatever you want to call it, is contagious! Where are you living?

gsp, it sounds like you had fun whenever you went to Richmond with friends. But yeah, I'm happy that I'm finally getting out of here too.

allxgravy, I think that the line might be pretty long by 8 am. I might get there at 7. I mean, I'd rather get there early and spend an extra hour in line than get there on time and waste a couple of hours (instead of just one) waiting for my room assignment. But I guess it all depends on how early other people get there.

I'll be in Ida Sproul Hall in Unit 3 (double). I heard from my roommate that we're gonna be on the third floor (he asked an RA). Looks like we won't be up high enough to get a nice view...oh well, at least I won't have to go up too many floors with my stuff on the 21st!
