2400 Books

I started studying for the SATs with a regular CollegeBoard book, but I don't think it's really gonna help me get a 2300+ score.

Do the books specifically targeted to people who want to get perfect scores actually help?

Specific book titles would also be appreciated :)

we all want to get perfect scores and nowhere near as many actually get them, whether they read the 2400 books or not. I still think the CB Blue book is the most accurate/best bet.

The collegeboard book(blue book)is nothing more than questions. If you want to understand the concepts behind the questions and how to tackle them, then i would advise you to pick up a prep book; however, steer away from generic books like kaplan sat2007, or princeton sat stuff, b/c they are very basic and are a rarity to achieve in the upper echelon, unless your a natural test taker. the key to aiming high is getting as much exposure to practice test questions and understanding MISTAKES.

use the concepts from those prep books and do test after test on the blue book and you should do fine.

Good prep books i've heard are Barrons 2400, Rocket Review, Grubers. Everything else steer clear away from.

I have the Barron's SAT 2400 (which, admittedly, I bought because it has 2400 in the name :) ), and it's pretty good in terms of strategy, but it's not going to get you to a 2400. Take a look at the Xiggy thread. The kind of concepts that he talks about are what are most likely to get you to a 2400.

But in any event, GET THE BLUE BOOK. It has 8 official practice tests. Enough said.
