anyone else besides me

yeah isn't there like a stat somewhere that stated that half of those who apply to harvard with a 2400 get rejected?... I think at Harvard, 2300+...=2400? Make sure to work on ECs though :).

Congrats gv! That is quite an accomplishment! I don't think there are many 2400s around.

But I have seen the stat azsxdc refers to. It's either 1/3 or 2/3 of those with perfect SATs got turned down by Harvard. Sorry to bear bad news, but don't count those chickens just yet.

so how many times did you take the SAT to get a 2400? once? twice? three or more?

a 2400 is great, but modesty is much better....

i got a 2400 on my sixth try

Hahaha lol ^.

Awesome.

i was just kidding

You all say thats its 1/3 and 2/3. However you are forgetting Harvard admissions for early is about 1/4 or normal is like 1/10. so its good even w/ 2/3.

FALLACY ALERT!!!!

just because the overall acceptance rate of a certain group of people is high does not mean your individual chance of getting in is also that high...

that's like saying, the overall acceptance rate for yale is 9%, so my chances of getting in are 9%, which is completely wrong; some people have a 1% chance of getting in, while others may have a 50% chance of getting in

thus just because the acceptance rate for those with 2400s that apply to harvard is 2/3 does not mean your chances are 2/3; the fact that people with 2400s still get rejected means you still might have a pretty likely chance of getting rejected, ie a person with a 2400 COULD hypothetically have only a 20% chance or even less of getting in...

Hey aznoverachiever, isn't your username kind of redundant?

Wow, that was bad. ducks

I'm too good for this club!!!

Math: 830
Verbal: 820
Writing: 850 (13 Essay)

Total: 2500
Yeah, I'm the man!!!
Now can someone tell me my chances at these schools:
Harvard, Yale, Princeton, MIT, Caltech, etc.
I also got 6's on all of my AP's and invented cures for every disease.

Just kidding (obviously). This club is for people like this though, people who have nothing to do but brag about how well they did on a test. Why don't more 2400 people share their tips to success. There must be something to do that hepls you get this score. Enlighten us.

I second that.

hepstar: that was an amazing response. i think CC needed one like that! lol

Hepstar, teach me to get a 2500! I heard the you need 2450 at least to get into HYPSM...I only have a 2420 right now..am I screwed?

Brag like that in your essay, and you will probably only get into your safety schools. That is, unless you think that safeties are beneath you. Admissions officers are delicate creatures, and after reading 300 Hail-Mary applications in one day, don't you think think that they will just laugh at your application? Quite frankly, I'm disappointed by your capabilities! How could someone as great as you fail to achieve a score of 2500?

Don't forget, 80% of all 2500 scorers get rejected from Harvard! Better work on that cure for cancer.

Rockermcr, I really hope that you know I'm kidding. Or are you just being sarcastic yourself. I'm actually a very modest person. My college app. essay is about the virtue of modesty and how it applies to my life. I am just satirizing the posts of some people on this site with incredibly high SAT scores and outstanding EC's who ask for their chances to schools like HYP just to show off their stats. I'm also poking fun at the people who start these "Uber Exclusive" SAT clubs as a way to brag. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it.

You know what I really don't get? When people get a 2000 something and tell everyone, many people on this site offers condolences and words of encouragement ("Oh, don't worry, the Ivies accept..."). However, when people are proud of their perfect scores, you get people basically going "****. Your personality sucks. You'll never get into the Ivies. Go suck on it."

Yeah. Way to praise the mediocre and bring down the excellent.

By the way, good job on the 2400.

Exeunt.

Gee Taggart, you seem to enjoy picking on me. First it was the perfect enough score thread, now this. Argh! I have no problem with 2300 scorers in general. It is the 2300 scorers who brag that really bother me and many of the other people on CC. If you self-proclaimed "excellent" people were to make a thread that actually served a purpose, like sharing some of your advice, instead of one that lauds your own achievements, you might not be perceived as such self-centered people. Taggart, we have already established that you are one of the arrogant 2300 people, so don't complain that you shouldn't be stereotyped as an egotistical show-off. You're attitude just fuels all of the stereotypes.

(By the way, a 2000 isn't a mediocre SAT score. It is in the 93% nationally and one could get into many colleges with it. Maybe a person with a 2300 wouldn't think this, but conventional wisdom would say that any score in the top 7% of the country's population is a very good score).
