University of Chicago listed as #1. With being test optional for a few years, wouldn’t that skew the actual SAT score reporting?

This shows the quality of the information from US News. Caltech has always had the highest SAT scores by significant margin consistently among all colleges for decades.

As part of putting my D’s college list together, I collected CDS and IPEDS data for SAT scores. While Chicago hides from CDS, they have to report IPEDS data, and it doesn’t match this list. I can check when I get home, but they were 3rd at the highest. Yes, test optional would skew averages to the high side.

And yes, Caltech is significantly higher than any of these - why does USNews not recognize that it exists?

Fwiw, the various data sources have variances that make the small differences among several of the schools ranked here not meaningful.
