Is a 28 on the ACT ok for Tulane admissions? I'm retaking it anyways on the 15th of Sept. I just saw that the 28 is the average and that's what I currently have.

Then you're good to go, if you have good grades, recs, and essays. :)

would a 34 ACT possible get me a full merit schoalrship?

My friend got a $35,000 merit scholarship with a 3.8, 30 ACT and like barely 10% class rank. She's Tulane Class of 2011.

caliboy, it would depend on your GPA and ECs, plus your intended major. If you have a high GPA with good ECs and recommendations, and write a very good essay, you are definitely a candidate for the Dean's Honor Scholarship. They only give out 50 to 100 a year (last year only 50). My son had a 33 ACT with a 3.8 GPA and got the $22,500 Distinguished Honors Scholarship. He applied for the Dean's Honor but did not get it - I have a feeling they may be making it a little tougher. I thought his Dean's Honor project was great, but his application essay was a little weak, and he did not do well on the writing section of his ACT.

I think they are looking for well rounded high grades along with the high ACT or SAT. Of course, if you are an engineering student, they seem to like those a lot.

This is all conjecture on my part though.

Keep in mind, the Deans Honor Scholarship is a separate application. Applications are automatically reviewed for merit aid like the Distinguished Scholars but others require special paperwork / projects.
