As a junior looking to get into a top college, I need some input from those who have been accepted or attend top tier universities. I have taken all honors thoughout my high school career. This year, however, I might need to take college prep. physics instead of honors since there may not be enough time to do all the work in my other 3 classes: honors english (will be an awakening since my prior english teacher taught us very little), trig., and an elective to balance. My question is, essentially, would a college think much lower of me if I took a college prep. course instead of honors? Thank you in advance.

take a couple of AP classes in areas you do well in.

I'm actually taking honors econ now, and I love it. The hard part is that my high school does not offer any econ AP. I might try to persuade my guidance counselor into offering that class next year.

That still does not answer my question.

depends on ur major.. if ur going to major in any science or math, don't do it.. but if ur planning to major in the humanities, or arts, or the social sciences, ur fine. i mean, an english major does not need any physics, and coleges know that.
