<p>I think its wrong to think that just because a school is harder to get into, it is harder to do well there. Some top schools downright coddle their students, while some lower ranked schools have a weeder mentality. I would look more to what school it is and what its reputation is. For instance, some UCs have a minority of their students complete engineering, and I would be worried if I had a low stat kids going into those programs. If my kid got into Stanford, though, I’d let them go regardless of their stats. I’ve seen some poorly prepared students thrive there.</p>
