3.0 to 3.5 California students

I have noticed some wonderful threads on "b" students but going through them to find info on west coast colleges is time consuming. I thought a thread on west coast schools might be helpful since the west coast has some unique challenges..ie. UC's are so tough to get into, Oregon Public universities are very expensive out of state, private schools fewer in number than on the east coast. My D is a junior so we're working on this right now. I also notice that while these students may be "b" students many have exceptional test score. How about the b or b+ student with good though not exceptional scores.

Anyone interested?

Yep…should have known it would be here somewhere…such adobe  thanks!

I mean a dope

The CSUs would fit within that range.

Are these unweighted HS GPAs or UC/CSU-weighted HS GPAs?

Some to consider:

Less selective UCs like UCM, UCR, perhaps UCSC.

CSUs. However, CPSLO and specific impacted majors at other CSUs can be very selective.

Western Undergraduate Exchange tuition discount schools (note that the tuition discounts are typically only available at the less selective schools).

Various less selective private schools (not Stanford, USC, Caltech, Claremonts that people usually think of).

If willing to go to other parts of the country, there are some of the automatic full tuition or full ride scholarship schools that need only a 3.0 HS GPA and high enough ACT or SAT score to get the big scholarships.

Go to community college and do well there to “upgrade” the selection of UCs and CSUs that will admit the student. However, many private schools and merit scholarships may be less available to transfers.
