Hey, has anyone had experience with 3+2 engineering program? Is this worth it, and can you give me some info about how to apply for it, and what are the likelihood of getting accepted into this program? thanks!

What do you mean, is it worth it? If you mean in terms of money that you will get once you graduate, I would say no. There are a lot of articles that you can find online, which show that engineering majors have an easier time getting jobs after graduation and get higher paying jobs than liberal arts majors. Employers that are looking to fill technical jobs, usually care about your engineering background. If you want to do the liberal arts major for fun, it may be worth it. There is this international engineering school at the University of Rhode Island. You take 5 years of undergrad, learn German, Spanish or French and study and work abroad for one year. I know some kids who did that and it was a huge boost for their career goals. URI may not be as prestigious as Emory, but the program is truly worth it from what I hear. And it’s cheaper.

Is it tough to get into the 3+2 program? what do they look for in their applicants?

I don’t think the problem is so much getting into the program (you’re accepted to Emory and then apply to Georgia Tech), but fitting all of the prerequisite coursework in (as well as a major at Emory). It can be next to impossible if you don’t bring in substantial college credit from high school.

You should consider that if you’re not a Georgia resident, you will have to pay out-of-state tuition at Georgia Tech, and you cannot receive Emory financial aid for your two years at Tech.
