So I was initially planning on putting the economics-engineering program as my major for claremont. But now im wondering whether if it actually hinders my chances of getting in more than just going in as a regular economics major and then maybe later shifting into the program (if thats even allowed). help.
I don’t think you actually declare your major until at least your sophomore year. Interest in the 3/2 program will not hinder your acceptance into Claremont. You can always double-check this with admissions.
Thank you for reply. I was asking this question because claremont offers 2 majors: one in economics-engineering (the 3/2 program) and one in regular economics. So does that mean I can apply as economics and then transfer into the program as well?
You apply to CMC. You don’t declare any major until at least sophomore year. So just take classes that apply toward that major. There is a huge attrition rate for the 3/2 program, but luckily the classes you will be taking during the first year or two will also apply to an econ major. The math is similar for the first several courses, and cre requirements are the same. The engineering portion comes in the last two years.
What university students normally go to the 2yr engineering after 3yrs studying economics at mckenna
