How does FA work for the typcial 3+2 program in engineering? Let's say you have a low EFC and get good aid from your LAC or 3-year school. You typically have a couple choices with articulation agreements to finish up at for the two years. Are these schools agreeable to having this setup because they really rake you on the FA, knowing that you need to go to one of them and they can stiff you for need based aid, or do they treat you like any other freshman? My guess is somewhere in the middle? Often they are higher end schools (Case Western, WUSTL, Columbia, etc). With an EFC hovering around 4-5K, I wouldn't want my kid stuck with 2 years at a $40K school for close to sticker price just because they knew they had you. Anyone else go the 3-2 route and can comment?

At Columbia you will get the full financial aid benefits afforded to incoming freshman. Can't speak for the others, though.
