How weird is it to join Notre Dame your junior year in a 3+2 Program kind of thing?

I am devastated right now at my rejection and looking at all the options, I got into a school that has this program with Notre Dame, and was wondering if a lot of people do this sort of thing....

AC419 -- Saint Mary's College has a 3+2 program and I would consider it in a heartbeat. Yes, I am a Saint Mary's grad and will be honest and say I went there with the intent to transfer after my freshman year. Then I found the 3/2 program. I loaded up on the classes required for engineering and actually took a class at ND as a sophomore. I realized after that class that engineering was not for me, so I changed my major and stayed at Saint Mary's. I could have tried to transfer any time along the way, but Saint Mary's was awesome and the relationship it has with Notre Dame was enough for me. I loved my college experience and never felt "2nd rate" as a SMC student. We went to all of the games , read the joint paper, went to all the same parties etc. I have great friends from both schools -- take a look at Saint Mary's it is a great school --

You should post this on the engineering board. I have read that most students never make it to the 3/2 program - leaving your college of 3 years at the end of junior year - not graduating with all your friends -becomes unappealing, I think. Some who frequently the engineering board may have more experience with 3/2 programs.

Seriously, if anyone wants to ask about SMC, PM me. I went there (okay, a long time ago...!!!) but daughter is a current ND student and husband went to ND too. My sister and I both went to SMC and loved it! It offers a lot in a great atmosphere! I'd be happy to answer to the best of my ability!
