3.5 GPA, 2330 SAT, average extra-curriculars

i'm currently a junior but i don't think anything major is going to change between now and when i start applying for college. can someone tell me what colleges i should be looking at?

Stats
3.5 gpa-unweighted (it's currently a 3.44 but i'm certain it will be 3.5 by the end of the year)
2330 sat (800 M, 800 W, 730 R)
221 psat (idk if im a finalist yet, but i doubt it 'cause of my low gpa)
ACT- taking in about a month. probably in the low 30's.

Extra Curriculars
quizbowl-4 years (sophomore-historian, junior-vp, senior-president) went to nationals
robotics-2 years (greatly contributed to winning the state chairmans award and qualifying for worlds)
qualified for the MMPC top 1000 math competition 3 years.
Field Hockey-2 years JV, 1 Varsity
Attended an al girls science summer camp before sophomore camp at Smith.
my teacher reccomendations will be pretty good, i think.

explanation for low gpa: i'm just bad at school. i took a crazy hard schedule my sophomore year and got straight B's. my freshmen year i took calculus ab, and ended up with a B. my sophomore year, i took ap euro, ap chem, and calc bc. i barely managed to get B's in all of them (although i did get B's in the "easy" classes as well). now, my junior year, i'm only taking 2 ap's. ap statistics and ap biology. so in total, i've taken 6 AP's.

so what colleges should i be looking to apply to? my test scores are high, but my gpa sucks. What are my chances for University Of Michigan (in state), and Rice? those are my top 2. also, i'm and indian female if that makes a difference.

Are you Native American or Indian, the continent?

indian, as in the continent.

You will be a perfect candidate for Vanderbilt. Vanderbilt looks at CR+Math, so you are gold for them. They will certainly excuse your GPA. Here is the Carrot. If you apply to their Cornelius Vanderbilt and Chancellor scholarships you have agood chance. I don’t know whether you know about Presidential scholar program, you will be a candidate for Presidential scholar. The CV and Chancellor scholarship deadline is DEC 15th of your Senior Year, and They pay Full Tuition(44,000 dollars).

My apologies, I didn’t read your post right. You are still gold at Vanderbilt but scholarships are not going be so forthcoming. Don’t worry, you still apply, you never know.

I’m in the same boat as u except with a 2390 and not asian
and my senior year grades went down a lot
I’ll let u know where I get in

Pretty sure that national merit doesn’t care about anything when they hand out finalist status because my friend got finalist status with like a 3.3 unweighted (and literally no extracurriculars).

Of course it might vary by state.

ya bro
I just got finalist with the same gpa
like 99% of semi finalists who apply get finalist status

How the hell did u take AP Calc AB as a freshman? What are you? Im barely taking it now an im a junior.

^ yea that is quite surprising. I feel depressed now.

But to be honest, I am very positive that you have high chances. As long as it shows that you challenged yourself, and even with a 3.5 gpa you were able to score very high in the SAT shows the unique side of you.

In the ninth grade I was multiplying polynomials. There is no sense in taking Calculus in freshman year.

sorry for such a late response. appreciate the feedback. I way overconfident when I took calc. I worked insanely had just to get a B and I neglected all my other classes. I wish my gpa was just .2 higher
what do you guys think about u of m?

anyone else know what my chances are for U of M? or some other decent colleges I could get into?
