Could you help me compile a realistic list of small to medium east coast liberal arts schools?
Use the Supermatch feature on this website. Input your preferences and get a list of potential schhols.
I’ve really found the super match tool useless. Based on my D’s scores it shows 100% match to top 10 schools and progressively lower match to more realistic schools. Match should mean match, not “your stats are in range to apply but it’s really a reach for you like most applicants.”
@Sportsman88 THANK YOU! I thought it was just me. I wonder if certain colleges pay to be listed higher on the “match.” Also, some of the stats don’t seem accurate. For instance, UCLA has an average unweighted GPA of 4.0 which is not true. UC Berkeley has an average unweighted GPA of 3.88 which is probably more realistic. UC Davis is also listed as having an average unweighted GPA of 4.0 which also isn’t true.

@lkg4answers Do you really wonder whether a “public” school in the caliber of UCLA is legally allowed to or even need to do such a thing (A school with the most applied to in the nation) ?
@uclaparent9 I don’t know. I wasn’t targeting UCLA specifically but certain schools are consistently shown a higher match. When I put my kid’s grades and test scores and then click on “West,” the top choices are Stanford, Claremont McKenna, Pomona and Berkeley and those are nowhere close to being a legitimate match. The rest of the UCs show up with random variability - UCSC, UCSB and UCSD pop up with a 99% match but Davis and UCLA never do. That’s what made me go back and look at the different stats of those two schools and realize that their AVERAGE unweighted GPA is listed as 4.0.
Sorry, I didn’t mean to hijack this thread. I was just relieved to read that someone else found the tool to be of little help.
