<p>They really should auction off say 25 seats in the class to the highest bidders, assuming kid meets the minimum standards for actually being able to survive at Columbia. It'll be no different than athletic recruiting.</p>
<p>I actually think I sent in four recs total - one from a physics teacher, one from a history teacher, one from the principal (who sponsored my year off and helped me with the logistics - this was in the place of a GC rec), and one from my boss.</p>
<p>i think that may have been overkill though. in your shoes, i might pick between the boss and the JA sponsor after thinking about who can speak better about you and relate more personal stories.</p>
