3.57UW, 2100 SAT I... Applying to Ivies.

^ I don’t know about the easier part, but I agree. Definitely look into Claremont McKenna and Pitzer.

I think everyone here is giving you great advice, if you do not make it to Stanford, Berkeley or the Ivies, as a freshman, there are some really good schools out there that would love to have a gifted individual like you. Also remember, if you do not get in as a freshman and you really have to go to one of the ivies, you can transfer or go there for graduate studies. So, yes there is plenty of time. If it is not for the SAT I then perhaps for the SAT II as a transfer or the GRE as a graduate student.

Finally, as far as improving your math scores is concerrned, let me give you the example of my son, who was some what like you, better in critical reading than math. He had a 98 percentile rank for kids his age, in SAT critical reading in 7th grade, when he took it as part of the Duke University TIP program. However, his math ranking was below 50 percentile. Two years later, as a sophomore he scored 92 percentile or 610 on the PSAT -the same as your SAT math score. A year later, he will take the PSAT as part of the NMSQT next month, and I will not be surprized if he gets a 700. My point is that math is like any other skill, the more you practice it, the better you get. It is not impossible to go from 50 percentile among your peers to 98 percentile in math in three years. It is not impssible to go from 610 to 700 with a little prep over the next three months.

Okay. Any others I should look into…?

Oh – and thank you thank you thank you :)

If you retake the SAT, don’t put down any colleges to send it to automatically. Look at your scores and then decide. You can send them only if they improve.

You have not said anything about financial aid needs and if you are willing to move OOS?

Here are few good schools in the east, I would consider:

[Emory University Profile - SAT Scores and Admissions Data for Emory University](Emory University: Acceptance Rate, SAT/ACT Scores, GPA)

Work on the SAT 1 math, you can def get it up. also I won’t report SAT 2 anything less than 740. Don’t apply early so your first semester senior year GPA will be factored. A upward trend will help somewhat…

<3 Did I mention I love you guys? This is so helpful.

Okay, so no early decisions, retake the SAT, and only send my World History SAT II?

While Ivies and Stanford may be a reach, I’m shocked that someone is telling the OP they shouldn’t bother to apply to UC’s! Also, your “UC GPA” may be much higher than you think with all those AP’s (UC uses its own system for calculating GPA). OP, you are well within UC admissability and far beyond the level of the Cal States!

Furthermore, while these are great choices for you, these schools are NOT UC’s!:
Pomona
Harvey Mudd
Claermont Mckenna
Occidental
Pepperdine
Scripps

USC is also a great choice.
