...I am a certified Abenaki Native American. Although my skin is white, I am actively involved with my tribe. I am a rising junior in HS. I had a rough start- I was diagnosed with ADD. Now that I am diagnosed and am on medication, I hope to attain straight A's, like those I'm familiar with. I will be able to raise my GPA to a 3.6UW cumulative GPA (freshman year, sophomore year, and junior year combined) before applying to colleges. That is the highest I can raise it.
...I have 1000+ hours of community service from volunteering at a soup kitchen and a nursing home. For over a year I have worked 20 hours a week at a grocery store. I have a successful website (an online interactive community for bullied teens: I was bullied for NUMEROUS reasons, but two reasons were that I am Native American and I have ADD).
...AP classes start junior year at my school. I attend the best public school in my state. I have taken honors classes thus far. Next year I will take AP English. I'm going to take the AP U.S. History exam, though I'm taking Honors U.S. History. Senior year I will take AP Gov, AP Stats, AP Spanish, AP Bio, and AP Lit, and AP Art.
...On the June SAT, I received around a 2200 but I should be able to raise my scores with enough practice. For SAT II's, I will likely do well on the US History subject test and the Lit subject test.
...Though my parents and siblings have attended state schools, my uncle attended Cornell as an English major. I am aware that does not make me a legacy. My grandmother always talked with me and she was certain I would one day study at Cornell too. I fell in love with the campus when I toured it. I would like to apply ED as a psychology major. What would my chances be?

You have the most rigorous academic program of classes available to you from a strong school, a high sat, good EC’s and a hook. if indeed you can have an Uw Gpa 3.6 which would translate as a high 4.0 weighted and you have official recognition for your tribe involvement or your volunteer hours your odds are extremely good.

Yes, I am certified. Thank you I hope so!

Bumppppppp

desperate bump #2

You should probably take AP Psych if you intend to apply as a Psych major, or at least show some interest in Psychology through your EC’s. Good luck :)

Ok I will. Any other opinions about my chances? BUMP

There’s really no point of overloading on AP classes during your senior year. Try spreading some out, so you can take a few during your Junior year.
AP classes are your greatest GPA boosters and Senior year grades aren’t reflected in the the transcript you send in. Also, I doubt you’d really care about those AP classes once you get into college, so they really become a burden later on.
I had, I think, 30 “transferable” AP credits (which I think is the max at Cornell) and I had to forfeit 26 of those credits due to my major requirements.
You take AP classes to get into Cornell, but don’t expect to get a return on them beyond that point.

native american+2200 sats+ed=the only way you’re not getting is if you say you’re going to kill someone in your admissions essay.

^seriously haha. Unless you really love Cornell, shoot for HYPS.

Omg thank you <3
