3.7 GPA enough to be considered by Cornell?

btw, does Cornell have a preference for juniors over sophomore transfers? and does the College of Arts and Sciences require SATs and SAT 2? which schools in Cornell don't require these tests? Thanks!

How important is High School GPA? I had a 2.7 HS GPA and Now I'm attending a community College and currently have a 3.8 GPA which I'll boost more.. I really want to attend Cornell CALS but will my HS GPA hold me back?

to be honest, the fact that you're at a community college might hurt your chances more than your H.S GPA. high school doesn't matter to Cornell after about a year and half but your college and your college GPA are extremely important.

A lot of CALS transfers come from community colleges....CALS even has transfer agreements with many of them

As for your HS grades....yes, they do matter if you're applying to come in as a sophomore. If you transfer in after 2 years elsewhere they don't matter as much.

I got in with a 3.6. Haha, I suck.

I have a 3.77 as a soph in a good, rigorous LAC (wesleyan), but each semester i have been here it has gotten higher...

~3.6 for fall freshman semester
~3.8 for spring freshman semester
~4.0 for fall sophomore semester (with two A+s)

they will be more impressed by that than just a straight up 3.8 right? maybe they'll just base their decision on that 4.0 last semester, lol.

upward trends are always good :-)

tl339: if you dont mind my asking, how did you get in with a 3.6? are you an underrepresented minority? do you have extraordinary SATs? And what is a 3.6 exactly, because some explain it as a 90 while others say it is a 92 or a 93. Thanks!
