Hey ya’ll,
I’ve always wondered this as I’ve been doing research here and there. My grades are fine except for a b+ and an a- in one class each. I know that admissions are holistic, but in terms of gpa specifically. How big of a difference does a 3.93 make compared to a perfect 4.0? Do admissions people even differentiate between the two groups? I know my chances are obviously affected between a 3.93 and 4.0 but by how much really?
Not enough to seriously worry about it. There’s almost no situation I could imagine where a kid with a 3.93 would have gotten in if he just had a 4.0, even at elite schools. If you get dinged, that won’t be the reason.
Colleges routinely reject applicants with 4.0/2400 stats and accept applicants with lower stats. If you get rejected, it will not be due to a 3.93.
