So, I’m a freshman in High School, and I’m completely terrified about my grades. I have three B’s this year, one in Honors English, 1 in Advanced Algebra 2 Honors (I skipped a course over the summer, so I’m taking a sophomore level course in my school) and 1 in Honors Bio. I’m scared because I think I have ruined my GPA and my future for getting into any college of my dreams. I’s like to go to NYU, UPENN, UCLA, Harvard, Yale, or Colombia for a degree in law or history. Have I completely ruined my chances, or is there anything I can do to help myself? Any insight would be great!
You have 2 more years to go so do not panic. There are many colleges that do not even consider Freshman year grades in their GPA calculation (UC’s) or will cut you some slack. Buckle down, work hard and enjoy HS.
thank you, I just got super panicked…
HYP probably isn’t happening, but that’s true for most people
I got into Harvard with a couple of C’s my freshman year. That might be rare, but it happens. So don’t worry about it. Just pick yourself up and do good going forward. My guess is that your math class dragged down your other grades. If that sounds accurate, study math over the summer. I’d recommend the Art of Problem Solving textbooks. You’ll be in precalculus? Pick up AoPS precalc - or even just any random precalc text, and work your way through it over the summer. That way math will be easier and you’ll have more time to devote to your other subjects.
