So I got three c’s for my first semester of high school (One was an AP class and another an accelerated course) and I’m concerned to what this will mean once they receive the final year report. I am normally a B student with a few A’s and one or two C’s. However, the trends on my transcript for each academic year show at least one or two C’s for first semester and a much improved 2nd semester with those C’s turned into B’s. (I got into CSU but still waiting on CU Boulder)
Let’s say I get those C grades up to a B or above for 2nd semester? Would my admission still be revoked on account of those 3 C’s during first semester?
The 3 C’s are mostly due to me taking on too many responsibilities with mentoring 9th graders, film projects associated with the school, and whatnot.
Hello. So I’m no expert, but here are a few things to consider. CU, though it has a pretty high acceptance rate, its middle 50 percent of students who are admitted have a gpa between 3.6 to 4.0. That means that 25% of the students admitted graduated at the top of their class with a 4.0. This also means that 25% of admitted students graduated lower than a 3.6, but do you see what I’m saying? I will say that having looked in to the applicant demographic over the years, I would say it has gotten much easier to be admitted. Some other things that may be in your favor: Do you live outside Colorado? (that will be helpful, they want diversity!) Also, is there a specific program that you’re wanting to participate in? Basically, is there something that makes CU your top choice? Indicating that a school is your top choice will definitely help you because they want to admit qualified people that will attend, (which I really think you are, since you seem to be a hard worker and challenge yourself by taking tough courses simultaneously), and not super qualified people that may turn them down. They want the highest number of acceptances to attend as possible. Anyway I know the wait is grueling. But I have good faith that if you wrote a thoughtful and personal essay, made yourself shine through on your application, etc, etc, you will be getting that acceptance soon. And, if not, CSU is a great school - my parents, grandparents, aunt and uncle all went there. And we’re from Washington! I toured CSU a few years ago when I was at the beginning of this long process. I just realized that I forgot to mention, I totally get what all this is like because I had the same stresses and worries when I applied to CU with a 3.52 and I was terrified of being rejected from the school I’d been dreaming of for years. Hang in there and good luck!
They look at weighted gpa. Since your C’s were in advanced classes, they will look like B’s to CU. I don’t think you’ll have any problem getting in.
