3 or 4?

I need help choosing courses :-D In reality, I would like to take as many courses as possible...but I'm choosing between 3 and 4. Everyone advises me to take only 3, but would realllllllllllly like to take 4.

Two courses I'm signing up for for sure are Chem 142 and Physics 121.

I'm going to majoring in Neurobiology. I'm covered for all my prereq math classes (5 on BC Calc, and possibly 5+ on HL IB), but I'm considering taking more. I'm waiting to finish up the Physics before I can take Bio 180. I should have Bio credit from both the IB HL and AP test (took them this year, scores haven't come back yet).

The possibilities I'm considering are Psychology, Linguistics, and Foreign language (Korean, Chinese, Japanese, or Viet).

Any thoughts?

Since you got time, I would say take three now, and if you fair well this fall, sign up for 4 in winter.

If you do happen to sign up for 4, good luck on finding a good schedule for physics 121 cuz the times for the qz sections and lb sections suck...

Im going for a Bio major and for autumn quarter I'm planing to take 3 courses...CHEM 142 MATH 125 and then some sort of ENGL class. You have to factor in the 3 hour weekly lab for CHEM and the occasional math lab. If I do ok then maybe Winter quarter I will step it up to 4 classes. Three classes should equal around 15 credits which is what they recommend.

I'm considering taking a fourth, "easy" class. Or a class I'll thoroughly enjoy. I'm thinking math for the fun part (yea, math is a hobby for me lol). Maybe the required English comp (we basically spammed essays out every night for IB, so I figured it wouldn't be EXTREMELY hard...but manageable with 4 classes.)

I haven't had A+O yet, so I've yet to look at the Physics schedule. Thanks for the heads up aMeng.

I might end up taking 3 after considering all the extracurrics I'm planning...though I won't be able to shake the thought that I'm wasting time by not taking an additional course. It's not to finish work and courses early...it's cause I thoroughly enjoy learning...lol.

If you want an extra 4th class that's "easy" and doesn't require too much effort, consider taking ARCH 150 or Intro. to Environmental Science (Online one if they still offer it).

I don't think 4 classes is the best idea. You don't want to do poorly in your other classes just because you took on a heavy load. Plus within your intended major good grades really DO matter-- so you don't want to regret anything. Remember the UW is graded on the grade point system, meaning that it may not be as easy as you may hope to 4.0 a class. That said, an extra easy class is different than a new foreign language class or psychology (which can be pretty demanding if you get behind).

However, I completely understand where you are coming from though. This quarter I REALLY wanted to take Islamic Civ, but I forced myself to stick with 3 classes.

hmm, Math 307 (differential equations) maybe? Its a 3 credit class and if you're good at math it shouldn't be too overwhelming. I think you've already fulfilled the prereqs too, just with your AP Calc BC score.

arch 150 is full, i wanted to take it

So they won't overload you for that class, hun?

pdouble ur funny lol
