Was notified about three schools today that weren't exactly safeties for me but schools that I was at like 75% sure I would get into. Boston College, Lehigh, and GWU all put me on their waiting lists.

My stats...

SAT 2220
UW GPA 3.88 W GPA 4.23
EIC School Newspaper
President of Cultural Club
President of Youth Group
Captain of Field Hockey Team
Several school choral awards
Talent show
Health Care Gov School
Way too many other ECs...I know they can't be the problem

I thought my recs would be good but now I'm worried because it seems like there's nothing else that could be wrong.

If there’s anything I’ve learned in the college admissions process, it’s that fit is so vastly underrated at CC and yet so important. Try showing how you would fit in at that school, its culture, etc. That is, if it’s important enough to you to put in that extra effort. Good luck!

This is not a question of why at this point, but rather what to do now…

If any of these schools are ones that you would 100% attend if accepted, without FA, let the school know…ASAP…when they do (if they do) go to the waitlist, they will already have your name as a guaranteed enrollee (giving them 100% yield and no mess, no fuss)…

If you have been waitlisted at schools you are NOT sure you would attend; not much you can do except sign up for the waitlist and…wait…

And btw, it helps to keep your GC in the loop and have them call the respective school as well…

Waitlists suck - you can’t move on with your life the way you can with an outright rejection. Hopefully you all got in somewhere and, per the CC mantra, Love Thy Safety!

Good advice from Rodney with one addition - update your application with any new accomplishments and significant achievements.

If you can believe recent news interviews. some of the top schools are waitlisting a lot of folks that require financial aid and accepting those that can pay the full freight. Frightening thought but not unexpected. Money talks.
