I'm applying to fordham, Villanova, Loyola MD, butler, Bentley and a few others. Should I send my 29 composite with 10 writing or 31 Composite with 7 writing? I've sent both to a few schools. Should I continue sending both or just send one? Which one?

I think it depends on your intended major. If you’re going to major in math or science, then send in the 31, but if you’re interested in liberal arts, definitely send in the 29./10. My son was accepted to Fordham (and they awarded him merit $$) with a 29 ACT and 10 in writing, and he was selected to be enrolled in Comp II as opposed to Comp I freshman year. I think colleges place a lot more emphasis on writing skills if your intended major will require a lot of papers and other forms of communication.

i would not send in the lower score. why even go there? maybe take again… but no reason to show them the 29! let them think you got 31 on the first try :)

You don’t accidentally get a higher test score, but you can have a bad day and get a lower one. I’d send both, they aren’t going to hold the lower scores against you and will see what you are capable of, even if they don’t superscore.

Why are you bumping? There is no specific “perfect” answer. If you only send one, send the 31 – it is a far better score and so many schools don’t really value the writing score since it is a single snapshot in time. If you can afford to send both, send both.

Send both. The 29 isn’t so low that you will be summarily rejected (just as the 31 isn’t so high that you’ll be automatically accepted). The two scores together tell a story.
