What is not said is the number of applicants to each school - because each school, as I understand it - has a different applicant pool.

Anyone know a rough breakdown of what percentage of applicants applies to each school?

They don’t release that information. They also don’t consider your potential major.

I’m fairly sure that at least Theatre majors are considered separately from other majors since a very limited number are admitted.

They might consider the major if a department explicitly states that they want more students or stronger students in their department. We have no way of finding this out since this info is not released to the public.

The head of the Communications Department said during our tour a couple years ago that admissions to the Theatre major is more competitive than any other Comm major, so I KNOW that admissions does look at those aps separately, as I’m sure is also done for Music and other restricted majors.

Definitely. I didn’t notice your post at first and was actually referring to Weinberg majors (I was in Weinberg). Other schools definitely pay attention to majors, most especially the communications, music, and journalism schools.

I just noticed that College Board has FINALLY updated NU’s stats… their website now (finally) reflects 2010’s 18% admit rate!!
