I'm trying to find a big state school for my daugher. She wants to major in pre-med. She has a 32 on her ACT. We live in Memphis. I know LSU offers full tuition with this ACT, but I would like to know if there are schools that offer a full ride...or is this ACT too low for that? Please help....

darlenen, do a search on "full rides" , in the Parent's Forum. There is a wonderful thread in here posted last year by a mom fom Texas about her full ride search for her kids. I'll try to find it for you.

As to your specific question, not any flagships I know of. Maybe some regional state schools. Full-tuition ain't bad, you know.;) Even if she had a 36, I don't know of any flagships with an auto scholarship with that and nothing else.

BTW, congratulate her on a great score. One more thing - I suggest googling "32 ACT + scholarships + full". You'll get millions of hits but it'll be a start. Good luck.

Here it is. Look at jmmom's post #8 for the link. Not all will be applicable, but hopefully you'll find a nugget there.

Did a quick google search using "ACT score 32 scholarships"--and perused a few websites. A lot of the top scholarships at schools have an ACT requirement of at least 32 in order to even apply. And that doesn't mean that you'll win the top end scholarships--just that you'll be in the pool of applicants.

Nice to have a full tuition ride in hand--although at many state schools, it's the room and board that can kill you!

re above- I figure $8,000 to 9,000 max for all room and generous food expenses here and recall a thread last spring asking people about expenses at state flagship schools, many seemed similar. This cost is partially offset by the absence of the teenager at home...

You can look at the U of MO-Columbia. I am not sure about the full ride, but she will get an automatic admission (including an admission to the honors program, if I remember correctly).
