I haven’t read many posts about how auditions are run at UArts. During the initial MT audition, when you present your first song do they ask for a 32 bar cut or the full song? I’ve heard of people who were asked to sing their full song but is that for everyone, or only if they ask?

I just checked the current requirements (as they may change from time to time?) and it says:

“Prepare … and two contrasting songs for your audition to the Musical Theater program…”

Although this says “contrasting songs” I would be sure to have cuts available anyhow. From my D’s audition experience (at the various schools), it is always best to be as ready as possible for various “unplanned” requests.

My recollection from my daughter’s audition back in the 2006-2007 cycle was that she sang her full songs. The audition description of what materials to prepare is essentially the same today as it was then. (The process is different now though; for the last 2 years, UArts has a same day call back at which you perform your second song and do the dance portion.) kb is correct, you are going to need cuts anyway for other schools so I too would suggest having them on hand. Your best bet to pin down exactly what to expect is to call the Theater Department. They will be glad to answer your questions.
