I know I should be able to squeeze out 3 points from both science and math, i have in the past, that would give me a 34, i think, that's what i want

I hope to earn a score sufficient enough to counter 5th school ranking and a 3.9, of course in the pursuit of a college like Washington University (st louis)

worth the retake? will it help my chances? what are my chances anyway?

take into account a pretty hefty extracurricular load, A's in all the AP courses my school offers, classes taken at local university, and i own a web design business with friend

i am interested in Cornell, UC-Berkeley, Stanford (but i doubt it)

What is a good ACT score for Washington U? Also, is it good to get a good score at the very beginning or does it make any difference if you continue to taking ACTs?

This may sound silly, but my son got a 34. I'm not that familiar with ACT's. I know that's a great score, but would anyone recommend taking it again for schools such as Brown and Dartmouth?

^^ Negative, b'smom. A 34 is equivalent to a 1520/2280. To retake that test would give an adcom reason to question if the kid had nothing better to do on a Saturday morning.

^^Doh, of course you are correct, Knights -- ACT has score choice. In which case, higher is always better than lower, so yeah, retake in June or Sept, if he thinks he can raise it.

^Exactly. You should retake just to see if you can scratch out an extra point or two. Raising just the math would help immensely, no? I know I'm retaking my 32.

I agree with everybody else.
I got a 32 too in April.
35 English
34 Reading
31 Math
And science...well let's just say it was very very bad.

I'm going to retake it in June and hopefully my science score will go up a lot.
You should retake it too. I mean, you never know what might happen.

Yes, few colleges superscore the ACT, but you could choose to resend multiple ACT scores to only those colleges and the highest in one sitting to the other colleges. With the ACT, it can never hurt to retake--even with a 34.
