36 on the ACT; dare she hope?

Good for her! Still...4.0/36 with quiz bowl and journalism aren't guarantees to Harvard.
I'm surprised she took the ACT after getting her 2330, though. Some people might not like that.

There are a few schools that require the ACT and do not accept the SAT. Perhaps she intends to apply to one of those.

Byerly, how do you find these articles online? Do you google "Harvard Applicant" and post what comes up? Also, if you don't mind me asking, what is the reason for posting this article? How is it relevent to us?

I guess she has a shot. 35-36/4.0 is the standard anyway. Aside from great test scores, I don't see a standout individual character. If you think about it, she doesn't sound that interested in Harvard. How do you think it would look if the Harvard adcom read this article and caught her blase attitude, do you think she'd still get in?

I don't read her as blase; rather, I think she is a bit apprehensive about applying for fear of rejection.

The college application process is terrible for people like this girl, who have never had to face rejection. In this person's case, she is to frightened to even apply at the tought of not succeeding. Kids suffer in April with rejections under their belts because it is the first time in their lives that they weren't accepted or ranked number 1. Kids need a healthy dose of rejection at some point in their lives, you shouldn't feel nervous about applying just because you might not get in-she needs to gain perspective and a touch of reality.

Her situation is not untypical.

Harvard has to go out of its way to encourage people like her to apply.

After all, somebody has to get in, and it might be her!

Your grammar is very untypical.

Cavalier07, I think you mean atypical!

Well, maybe I do!

but, Byerly, you have still avoided Shark_Bite's questions?

what exactly is your obsession with anyone who might be applying to Harvard and has an excellent academic/EC record?

All you have to do is go to Google News and type Harvard. . .

I also am obsessed with 280 lb linemen!

I can't link to the article!

I agree with halopeno. I'm one of those kids who's never faced rejection (with the exception of girls), but I've prepared myself for getting rejected at some top schools. That's life.

Cool? I was also wondering that too Byerly, where do you find these articles? Do you scour every major and minor newspapers looking for Harvard articles? There was one in the Arizona Republic that you didn't post...maybe you will go search for it now!

Btw...ACT is way easier than the SAT, 36, unimpressive in my mind
