39-unit requirement during your final year?

I was wondering about the 39-unit requirement … I asked a counselor about what would happen if I didn’t make it to 39 units by the end of Spring, and she told me that my financial aid would be cancelled for the following Fall quarter. I’m currently a third year and I made it to 40 units, so this year isn’t the problem.

However, I’ll be graduating next June, so next year is my final year. I only need 36 units to graduate. Does the 39-unit minimum requirement still apply even if you’re graduating that Spring? If I don’t take 39 units, will I be unable to file for a degree?

Someone please help!

P.S. The reason I ask is because I don’t want to take summer courses this year! Thanks in advance!

That requirement pertains to your student loans. Whenever you dip below 13 units on a quarter you are now part time and your student loan clock starts ticking for payback.

Thank you for your reply, but I don’t have any student loans (financial aid covers tuition). Last fall I only took 12 units and was considered full-time. I appreciate the feedback though!
