<p>yea, i also heard like 50 MITES are applying for MIT. And they have like a really really high acceptance rate %. scurry.</p>

<p>so what's the acceptance rate this year?</p>

<p>6% or 5%?</p>

<p>:-(</p>

<p>Yea one of the mites is my friend who did EA.</p>

<p>richard, you have nothing to worry about. hush!</p>

<p>taking out rickoids, taking out some of(not all of) 1600s scores, taking out some students scored 2500s+ on SAT+SAT2, taking out someones with 5.0 GPA, taking out a few people worked in MIT or similar schools(like one in NYTimes mag.), taking out genetically super-smart boys and gals, taking out washington winners, taking out intel winners, taking all kinda national olympiad, AMC or whatever winner, taking out millionaries' D and S, taking out ... taking out _____ taking out ~~~~~
yeah right i have a great chance to get in!</p>

<p>I think there will be about 75-100 kids accepted EA that are genuinely passionate, dedicated, intelligent, and quirky, but who also might not have THE best test scores/national accolades/research experience.</p>

<p>Yay, save a spot for me in THAT pile :)</p>

<p>hmmmmmm. is MIT notorious for crazy rejections? like harvard is? i hope not. theoretically i shoudl have a pretty good chance, but my parents would kill me hella much if i dont get in.</p>

<p>theoretically speaking?! concretely speaking, you do!</p>

<p>all of us have to be in cambridge!!</p>

<p>i don't have a great GPA (but i have taken mostly honors and AP), and my gpa has greatly improved since freshman year. (2.6UW freshman and sophmore, two Ds:( to 4.0UW junior +). Havnt taken SATs yet (only a junior).<br>
I do have national awards at science olympaid, and a first place electronics project at national TSA (built and programed an lcd equipped optical heart rate recorder, including designign etching the PCB). I also started the engineering/tsa club at our school as a freshman, and i'm an officer of both science olympaid and tsa. I was nominated as a technology innovator(sp) in my district (top 100 public in the nation-lower merion), and a local magazine is doing an article on me.
In addition i'm in mualphatheta, chess club, oriental cultures club (despite being a white jewish male), and architecture club.
Also, I build my own combat robots and compete in north-east competitions.
I will also be starting FIRST robotics in our school next year, and will be the founding president.
Worked at a resturant for several months.
Is this enough to overcome my poor 9/10th grade GPA? Will these ECs and awards make be stand out to MIT admissions?
I'm trying to get into PGSS (science governor school at carnegie mellon) for summer research.</p>

<p>You're a junior, work on your grades and do something with yourself...you are oh too young for the EA posts lol...</p>

<p>stop underminig my insecurity nghi!!!!
i think we should all go to welsley</p>
