4.0 uwGPA but only 3 AP Classes good?

Will the fact that I will have only completed 3 AP classes by the start of Senior year hurt my chances of getting into a top 20 school like Rice, Columbia, UC Berkeley, Uchicago?
All of my other classes are Honors and I have never gotten lower than an A so far... (I'm a Junior now)

How many APs does your school offer?

Pretty much all APs…

I wanted to balance my course load so that I wouldn’t have to sacrifice my gpa. So far, straight A’s… Also, most of my classes are focused on Science like Molecular Biology, Chem, Bio, AP Chem, physics
And I’m taking BC Calc now

What matters to colleges is if you took the risk to take the hardest courses available

Oh… That makes sense, but I wasn’t interested in some of those AP classes, the classes I decided to take were towards the science field
Do you think that will give me a chance? classes like Molecular Biology and Research Project aren’t offered at many other high schools but are also honors at my school…

I think it will hurt your chances, but not kill them. Schools want to see that you took the most difficult classes possible.

That is roughly equivalent to someone with… lets say a 3.5 GPA with 7 APs, just to put it into perspective.
The context of your gpa is as important as the actual number. Soo…

So far, 4.76 weighted gpa
Although not as many AP classes, all honors and mostly science + internship

ooh I seee no APs BUT you have honors
yeah thats better
but why does you school have so many honors?
taking honors and getting a high gpa but only taking a few APs… idk it seems like you school is inflating grades
but u seem like a strong applicant so… cheers.

I volunteer at local hospital, local nursing home, I teach elementary schools science/perform science demos for them, am in NHS, MHS, Vice president of school’s politics club, going to be president of school’s Science and Research signature program and school’s “DNAcademy”, presented my scientific research at a community expo (co-sponsored by NCI, Johns Hopkins Kimmel Cancer Center, GW Cancer institute), and on math team

And i played piano until junior year, I did two High School Piano Exams and got A’s on both
I also did National Guild twice and also another one for sonatina (got sonatina plaque award for it)

lack of APs shouldn’t hurt as badly cause you have some extra padding from your GPA and EC
=p

thanks guys for the replies (:
and I hope so WallyWest!
