As I said above, I realize that most of these would be reaches. Still, I'd like to know others' opinions of my chances!

Ok, I think all of the ivies, Stanford and U of C are reaches for you. Although you are a fantastic applicant, you really are somewhat generic (no offense). However I think you are a match at UCB/UCLA, high match at JHU, low match at NYU, High match at WUSTL. Tulane is a safety for you.

No offense taken, though there are a few things I think make my app more diverse that I couldn’t mention for privacy’s sake. Anyway thanks for the feedback :)

I agree about your app being generic. You are competitive, but nothing about you stand out. I agree with xgarrison96 about the chances. I just don’t see any clear passion in here

Wow, because these abridged lists of objectives can help us know whether or not OP will be a “stand out” applicant in the admissions process. Don’t worry, OP, people will say these things here but you just need someone to read your WHOLE application, including recos essays transcripts everything, to determine your chances. Of course, the only ones who can give you a correct chance are the admissions officers.

Stay strong, you are a solid applicant looking at these objectives!

Thank you (: I mean I get that they weren’t trying to be rude, but it was pretty disheartening to essentially be told that I lack passion, when I’ve always felt that the opposite was true. Of course, they couldn’t have known that from the list I posted above.

UCB/UCLA: Match
Johns Hopkins: High Match
UPenn: Reach
NYU: Low Match
WUSTL: High Match (Show interest or I can almost guarantee that you’ll be Waitlisted here.)
Brown: High Match
Tulane EA: Safety
UChicago EA: Reach
Stanford: Reach
Harvard/Princeton: Reach

I would say that you have a good chance at any of these schools, I would agree with lowGPAhighACT’s chances. Some of your schools are definitely going to be reaches, especially applying RD. Also, thats a ton of schools to be applying to. Best of luck!

UCB - match
UCLA - high match
Johns Hopkins - reach
UPenn - reach
NYU - high match
WUSTL - high match
Brown - reach
Tulane EA - match
UChicago EA - reach
Stanford - high reach

to lowGPAhighACT -

how do you suggest I express interest to WUSTL in my app? from what i’ve gathered they don’t have an essay supplement. i’m actually really interested in WUSTL because of its size, sciences, and collaborative atmosphere.

WUSTL loves students who come to visit. Of course thats asking a lot if you live far away, but show interest with an alumni interview, or just emailing your regional admissions rep every once and a while.

Also I wasn’t trying to be rude or say you don’t have a passion! I just meant nothing clear stands out based on what I saw.

Alright, I’ll try to schedule an alumni interview then. Also I realize you weren’t trying to be rude, as I said, I was just a little disheartened. I know you were just being honest!
