^^^^^ what she said... cept this is a navy board

Pittsburg is in Kansas. Ours is Pittsburgh, the sunny heart of the Alleghenies, where the crystalline waters converge to form the headwaters of the magnificent and mighty Ohio from which the minor Mississippi dribbles. I'm wondering if our Alabammy mammy is deficient in geography or spelling? I assure you that all PA polka playing USNA wannabes know that Mussel Shoals is in California and Muscle Shoals is the true home of Southern rock somewhere near Tinasee and Mizzsippy! ;)

Funny story about the rivers of a few springs back ...

People were FREAKING out as the Golden Triangle was SWARMING with mayflies, the likes of which had not been seen in dahntahn Pitt in many moons. A public outcry was calling for extermination and "doing something" about these harmless pesticles, which in fact live but 24 meager hours. Only the local fisherpersons realized that this locustian infestation was a call for a grand celebration ... as mayflies only live and hatch in clean waters. Ok, so the Monongahela isn't quite crystal yet, but I'll place the Allegheny in the running for pretty nice water.

If you switch out "army" and "USMA" and replace them with "Navy" and "USNA" it's correct. The numbers are the same for WP, USNA and USAF.

Whistle Pig: let's call it the lateness of the hour, and not a deficiency in either spelling or geography. We should all have pride in where we live, just as our future SA cadets should have pride in their respective academies. Glad you know about Muscle Shoals, though. I'll never forget our local pride during the last Olympics, totally frustrated by the announcer pronouncing Helena, Alabama the same as Helena, Montana (in AL it's Hell-ee-nu). We sent him an email in case one day there is someone from Arab, Alabama...where we say Ay-rab :)

At our high school for the Class of 2010 we had 3 LOA's to USNA - and all 3 received Appointments before the end of January of their senior year. One also had a Presidential Nom, while my daughter and one other had congressional noms..As it turned out, one decided to go ROTC to Cornell - the other 2 went USNA. I just took a photo of 2 uniformed Youngsters, my daughter and this other young man at the airport last month when they both flew home for their Christmas break on the same plane.

no picking on the "mammy's" WP!

as for me- glad to see that the great sport of lacrosse is alive and well in sunny alabama!!! :)

(ps... opening game folks: navy vs VMI- Feb 9th- navy marine corps stadium!)

Actually, I have no idea how many LOA's are at my son's school...I know of at least 2 for USMA, but don't have a clue for USNA. When there are nearly 900 seniors, some information gets lost in the shuffle! However, I doubt it is the same as Hoover High's amazing four!
