4 Years of Foreign Language

I have been hearing a lot about taking four years of a foreign language in high school. I took Spanish 1 and 2 in middle school and Spanish 3, Honors Spanish 4, and (currently) AP Spanish in high school. I do not plan on taking more Spanish next year, as I would have to dual-enroll or take a Spanish Perspectives class. I am taking a lot of STEM classes next year and don’t have space for either class. Does this look bad somehow, or will I have technically taken 4+ years of a foreign language?

Completion of Spanish 4 = 4 years for almost every college. There is an entire thread on the topic:

Look at colleges you want to go to and see how they define it. Taking 3-4 years is a goal for most colleges. My son took mandarin for 3 years and really wanted to take an AP economics at the same time as mandarin 4. He took what interested him and it didn’t affect him at all.
