4 years of math for college?

I am trying to decide whether I should take a fourth math class in high school. I’ve heard that most colleges only require 3 math classes and recommend 4. I’m planning on majoring somewhere in the humanities, so is it necessary to take 4 math classes? Math isn’t really my strong suit.
Also, I don’t have any specific colleges I’m looking at, so I’m planning with a broad generalization of what most colleges like to see in mind.

Best would be to take math through precalculus at least while in high school. Precalculus is typically taken in 12th grade after algebra 1, geometry, and algebra 2, but students who are advanced in math may take it in 11th grade or earlier (the latter may take calculus while in high school if they want).

Statistics can be helpful generally and may be taken in high school or college as an elective.

Some colleges, such as Washington publics, want to see some math-based course (can be something like physics or statistics as well as math) in 12th grade for frosh applicants.

Okay, thank you for the advice!

If you need to take any math in college, it’s helpful to take it all 4 years of HS. It seems taking a year off in math makes it more difficult to get back into it when you take it in college. Think continuity of learning is more of an issue in math than other subjects

Most colleges want 4 years actually, including pre calculus. If you’ve already had pre-calculus you could take regular statistics.
