4 years of science???

To get into a top university, is it necessary to have 4 years of science or is 3 ok?

If you plan on majoring in science, 4 would be better.

However, for necessary, check a colleges website to see if they have requirements

If you want to major in science, it is better (but not necessary) to have four. Three is fine - especially if you present the H.S. Science Trinity: AP BIOLOGY, AP CHEM. and AP Physics.

You would want 4 years of lab science for selective universities.

The previous post regarding 3 AP lab science courses means typically 5 years of science – in practice an introductory course freshman year and an introductory/intermediate course in sophomore year, and then 1 or 2 in either junior or senior year. That’s a program that makes the most sense for those intending to major in engineering/science.
