Great accomplishment by outgoing President Hennessy and great to see he will stay involved by being a Director.

Bravo of course to Mr. Knight!

while in know way do i think a person should not be able to do as they please with their money. stanford needs another 400 million like warren buffett needs me to treat him to breakfast at denny’s.

400 million could truly benefit 1000x of other schools in the country. his choice as it should be. just my 2cents!

The money is to sponsor 100 international students a year for graduate work. Similar to a Rhodes scholarship.

Yes, the money could go to the Newark school system for instance, the way Zuckerberg gave $100M and there was a matching $100M grant. That was a disaster.

It is like winning the lottery - many people can’t deal with it and so wind up wasting it and back to square one after several years.

Stanford, and other top institutions, does know how to handle it.

It is all about leverage. If Stanford can manage the program really well (I am sure they can) and they can recruit top talent that care about solving serious problems in the world (I am sure they can), that $400M investment can have a 10x or 100x impact overtime.

yeah, i was not referring to newark…I could have told you the end of that story before I read the book.

I meant an endowment for any number of colleges. just my opinion…his money…I have no say in the matter.
