do people do this? how bad does this look?

Today was my fourth time but the first time was the old 1600 one so I'm not sure it counts.

yeah i was just wondering. people always max out at the 3rd time. but ... 4th.. i dont know. im so tempted to take it again. i feel like i do so much better with each time i take it.

it was my 4th time today

1st time was around 1870
2nd time 1900
3rd time 2090
4th time 2150-2260

i actually studied this time around. 2nd to 3rd time i dunno it was fluke

do you think colleges look down upon it?

Not if you continue to improve.

im taking it 5 times because of a scholarship i want.

yesterday was my 2nd time.

you people are all tempting me to sign up for the december test. this is why i love cc.

but in all seriousness. what is the argument for why the 4th time is bad?

colleges think you have nothing better to do with your time. But, if i can improve 100 points. Screw that. Im going to retake since i know i can do better and i personally hate the SAT with a passion and want to do good

i realize the sat is a long test. but 4 hours isnt that much when considering the weight that THEY put on it in the admissions process.

but i was just wondering if they disregard your 4th score or actually use all 4 to make a composite. that would be a pretty good deal.

why wouldnt people try again. yeah its what 50 bucks or whatever? but its for college which is a huge investment.

i mean, i was told my the admissions rep for the college I want to go to, that you can take it as many more times as you want, since they only look at the combined score.. but if you try to combine your scores after you take it 10 times, no college is going to take you seriously

trust me; take it the 4th time.

Here's how i look at it.

You might get a 2100 the 3rd time and a 2350 the 4th. That's Harvard!!!

hah well i just really want georgetown or bc. georgetown is a little much of a reach but bc isnt as bad. except its really competitive to get in beacuse im from CT and so many kids apply from my school and i dont even want to nkow how many apply from my state.

but yeah.. im def taking 4th time now. thanks everyone.

what admissions rep are you talking about? im thinking about possibly emailing one of them.

just make sure you do better. the worst thing you can do is retake and do worse. especially on your 4th time.

The most important thing is to improve, the worst thing you can do is go down. I wouldn't recommend taking it more than 4x though.

it doesnt matter...i know someone who took it 5 times, maxed out below 2200, also took the ACT, and he goes to princeton (got into harvard as well)

thats pretty convincing.

i just remember seeing posts that more than 3 was excessive or whatever.

So i'm looking at the common app online.

there are only three tests dates where you can enter your scores. advice. what have ppl done who have already applied to schools with more than 3 sat scores?

post the latest 3.

just forget about the first one
