Who has taken the SAT more than 3 times? Please share your thoughts on whether it was worth it, and if it was mentioned by colleges (do they question how many times you take it?) Thanks!!

I took the SAT IIs like... seven times. Going to UCI, don't know if it'd be considered a success or failure, depends on who you're talking to I guess.

Ended up with 770, 740, 620

njmom, this exact question was asked at my school during a college info. seminar lead by the school gc and admissions people from two nearby (somewhat) colleges. Both the admission people had the same answer -- when taking standarized tests starts to look like one of your ec' s watch out, that is not a good message to be giving. They said to take it at MOST 3x, give it your best shot, and then move on to something else to put on your resume instead of more testing.

I'm planning to take my fifth SAT I just because my score dropped in the new SAT.
Coldcomfort, since I only took three old SATs, I'm still in good position, right??

Schools don't care how you got the score as long as you get it. Take it as many times as you need to.

i agree with coldcomfort. I'm taking the SAT I twice.

Do not let guidance counselors/parents, et cetera mislead you. It doesn't matter how often you take it. Colleges will often say 3 times because most people do not improve or have diminishing results after the third time.

How do you know they say that for that particular reason?

you think they just look at ur score and wont notice that you took it like 5 times?
