560 word essay... will they care?

Ok i know a thread like this has been posted before, and I sincerely apologize for my redundancy. My concern is that my personal statement is 560 words, and even though I realize that 60 words equates to a mere three sentences I'm just worried that some of the colleges will use that against me.

Specifically, I was worried about Boston University's application where it states "Please write an essay of no more than 500 words..."

Has anyone submitted long essays and been accepted, or specifically to Boston University.

Thanks.

I don't know about BU specifically, but other colleges are very lenient with their essay policy. Most universities just give a 500 word suggestion to tell you the whereabouts of your essay length. Personally, for a 500 word limit essay I think around 650 should be fine. Don't worry about your essay being over the word length.

thank you for your advice...

I don't know, i'm just concerned becuase I don't want the essay shortening to get to the point where it's diminishing the content of the essay (if you know what i mean...)

60 extra words? Don't worry. It's not like it's 600.

They won't count the number of words in your essay! As long as its reasonable, it's fine. Just make sure you're not being redundant in your essay.

Yea, a lot of people have that problem. If it takes a few extra sentences to get your point across it should be fine.

well this is certainly good news, thanks everyone.
