What should I do to go from my current 570 to a 720. The 570 was my first time taking the SAT but it carried a lot of stuff over from the ACT. I have Barron's SAT and PR practice tests but that's about it. Same goes for the writing I'm at a 610-640 and I'd like to bump that to a 730 as well. I take the SAT December

First test: CR(680) 4 of the 9 I missed were vocab, M 570 sigh, Writing 480 MC : 58(good?) essay is probably a 9-10 since I get an 8 on the ACT so ~620-650. I get around 28-30 on English ACT and 26-29 on Math . Reading is consistently my best section and now there is no stingy time limit.

buy the blue book and follow silverturtle’s guide.

I partly agree with wcao. The Blue book is an absolute must have for the SAT. However, I believe that Barron’s math is ideal preparation though it is quite a bit tougher than the real thing. Barron’s English is horrible.

BUMP. I have Gruber’s Workbook and I’m going through it now. I think I gotta work on pacing myself and guessing vs omitting. Scoring a 600 comfortably now but I think 1 month should be enough. ~700 Math would be fantastic for the schools I’m applying too. Any other book reccos?

What I always used to do: Narrowed down to two options means guess. Otherwise, no guess. As for time management, keep in mind that there are only about 1-2 questions in each section that are really time consuming while most are just quick response. The reason time management is a problem for many is that they give some questions more time than those questions deserve. Often individuals try some complicated methods to find the solution when it is just an easy question. Also, the questions get tougher as we move on through the section so you can be sure that if you are giving a question in the beginning a lot of time, you are doing it wrong and wasting time. Just do not over complicate questions and you should be fine. Also, practice a lot of timed sections.
