I plan on taking the SAt I'm October. I'm retaking it so I can mostly improve in the reading part. I got a 430 in reading in June and I'm trying to get it to a 500. I'm doing practice everyday and I'm only getting in the 470s and 480s. I am a bit concerned because October will be right around the corner. Do you guys have any advice on how to improve faster? Also I am planning to buy the blue book ( the 3rd edition).

It would probably would have helped if you had payed attention in school, but I presume that you’re an international student,so I would recommend reading books - a lot books, books which you can finish in a day depending on how fast you read. You could buy a dictionary or hire a tutor if you’ve got the money.Don’t forget to practice, and I mean PRACTICE.

I have SAT Vocab cards from Barron’s and Princenton review vocab and I study by using that.

Im prepping by doing critical reading sections daily. October is approaching quickly and I need to be getting in the 500s. And no im not an international student.

Have you tried the ACT instead?

@smarty99 i thought of taking the ACT but i decided to stick to the SAT instead. i need a 500 in the CR. that’s my goal

Memorize 5 SAT words a day until the test alongside what you are doing now.
You’ll see the scores improve.

If vocab is trouble…maybe the ACT?

sentence completions aren’t hard. just the passages

I don’t want to take the ACT.

What strategies would be beneficial when reading the passages?

It’s paid not payed! Who are you to cast stones?

OP: Stick to practice tests. Learn how to pace yourself and not waste time on the real hard questions. On the difficult questions, learn how to eliminate two wrong choices, making it easier to zero in on the best choice. On the essay stick to the boiler plate example which are posted throughout CC. For the SAT, a long, vague essay is better than one that is short and succinct. Write as much as you can!

Play devil’s advocate for reading passages. Google “How to play devil’s advocate for critical reading” because I’m too lazy to explain it right now.

How high does the devil’s advocate get you on the SAT?

I’m retaking the SAT in October and time is running short

Any further advice?
