So I was recently accepted to the WashU class of 2019. I’ve been tracking some of the “controversy” on here about people not getting in and what not. But anyways, when I got my official acceptance letter it told me only 1650 of 29000 applicants got in which is like a 5.5% acceptance rate, and I always thought that their acceptance rate was closer to 15%? Is this normal for it to change that much? Do you think that could be why admissions seemed so off this year?
The 1650 is the size of the entering class. The actual number of people admitted is probably around 4,000 - 5,000, with 35% (around 1650) ultimately matriculating.
It just proved that they had a very successful marketing campaign. Google for this interesting article at the Washington Post web site: “Dear elite colleges, please stop recruiting students like me if you know we won’t get in”.
