Binghamton has received a donation of $60 million to create a new baseball complex. Wow! This is really amazing and generous. I’m guessing that the anonymous donor wants to turn Bing into a baseball mecca.

While this gift will create what surely will be a spectacular baseball complex, I find it to be a curious choice given that college baseball in the northeast is a pretty low profile sport. I assume the generous donors have some specific connection to Binghamton baseball. If the school had its way and wanted to make a big splash in sports, I would think putting money into the lacrosse or basketball programs would make more sense. But at the end of the day he who holds the gold rules.
I do agree that basketball or lacrosse seem more logical. Then again, Cooperstown isn’t so far away. We can’t look a gift horse in the mouth though.
Thank you, anonymous donor!
Check out the YouTube link of the new baseball stadium Binghamton will be getting. It’s really…over the top…even has luxury boxes!
Possible candidates for who the $60 million mystery donor could be: Eddy Stack or Thomas Tull.
Ah. Interesting. I’m thinking Stack. The first Dick’s was in Binghamton, I believe. I heard him talking about it on NPR. If anyone heard that interview, it seems there is a legitimate reason for him to remain anonymous.
And I should add, that was a great interview and he deserves a lot of praise, regardless of if he is the donor or not.
I hope it includes a snow plow so they can use it.
@Empireapple , I’m pretty sure that some of that $60 million will be set aside for snow removal. If not, they can use it for hitting snowballs. ?

Listening to Thomas Tull on his life growing up in Broome County starting 1:20 minutes into the audio recording…I’m really thinking he was the one that donated the $60 million. Thomas Tull says that he visits the area multiple times a year, strongly believes in sports and the lasting impact it has had on his life and the lifelong lessons that athletics teaches. He mentions multiple times that being able to play multiple sports and growing up in that community in Endwell shaped his life and made him what he is today. He also goes on to mention how proud he was that this small community from Broome County was able to come together to put together a baseball team to win the 2016 little league world series and how it has affected him as well.
Donating this huge sum of money to Binghamton Univ baseball hits all the buttons and resonates perfectly with Thomas Tull’s philosophy.
Maybe Tull and Stack are each putting in $30M!?
Bing is going to see an uptick in baseball players wanting to attend!
