My graduate school I was accepted to emailed me to say there’s a July 20th deadline to “receive federal loans,” which only is stated in the email’s subject line.
The FA email says they want me to complete entrance counseling and the Unsub MPN, and to do so as soon as possible. They also say to let them know if I’m not going to attend.
Is there an actual date to complete these things in order to receive federal loans?
They awarded me the max per semester that’s allowed for graduate unsub, then offered me grad PLUS to cover the rest of the COA. But I had a Chapter 7 bankruptcy discharged in February 2015, though it was filed November 2014, which is considered “adverse credit info” that prohibits me from applying for Grad PLUS loans without an endorser.
I’m considering appealing, because the rule is if the Bankruptcy was in the last five years, it’ll be considered adverse, but mine isn’t right on the cusp of being five years, that I may send them my discharge letter from 2015 anyway to see if they’ll overturn the decision, because there’s no way I can afford the semester bill with only the unsub amount.
So anyway, does anyone know about a national deadline to complete graduate school MPN and entrance counseling? I don feel understand why I have to complete these things by the 20th of July if I don feel start school until August 18th and the aid wouldn’t even disburse until September…
Thanks for any help or guidance!
