Financial aid deadlines

The deadline for the student requirements is June 1st (tomorrow). If I'm late by one or 2 days, would Merced remove my eligibility to loan anything? I still have 2 unsatisfied requirements- the Online-Loan Questionnaire, which i completed 10 minutes ago but is still marked as unsatisfied, and the Parent Loan Authorization, which I mailed in on Thursday but is apparently not yet received. I'm a bit worried about this, since if I don't receive any financial aid then I'd probably just go to a CC.

Does anybody know if Merced would deny me of Aid for passing the deadline?

I'm not an expert on this but I do not believe they would deny you loans if you are a couple days late. The same two requirements are still marked unfulfilled for my profile as well although I believe I completed the survey twice and transmitted my fax for the parental authorization.

However, grants and gift aid might be a different issue. I'm guessing if you're not prompt about satisfying your requirements, they'd be more than happy to give it to someone else who was on time but from your description, it sounds like it'll be fine.

Don't fret about not having the requirements checked off just yet from your profile. They are probably overflooded with students submitting requirements that they probably do not have ample time to mark everything off of everyone just yet. However, one would think that the online survey would be marked off automatically...

If anything, you can always explain your situation by calling up the Office of Financial Aid. Each time I called, they were very helpful in getting me the information I needed.

I hope this helped. :]

thanks :)

also 1 more thing- Were we supposed to send in the promissory note by the deadline as well?

No, we did not need to send the MPN. The note is only issued after we apply for loans and we were only allowed to apply for loans AFTER June 2nd so we're still gravy.

Also, I called up the financial office at UCM today and they said that after you have completed the loan application with lender of your choosing (there's an easy drop down menu where you can compare lenders, takes about 30 minutes to complete), the MPN will be sent automatically to UCM so that's basically all we have to do in terms of loans, granted there are no errors. :]

Sorry about the late response. Had finals to study for.
