<@7<4! TITLE - somebody help me out with chances

I was wondering where you guys think I could get into/apply (I don't mind applying to reaches, provided they aren't unrealistic in terms of my getting in).

I will have taken between 15 and 17 APs by the end of senior year, and none are self-study. So far, I've gotten 5s on 4 of them (soph year), and expect to get 5s on 6 more this year (in BC Calc and Physics C EM and Mech, for example, all but three people who have taken them in my school over the past 2 years has gotten a 5, the others got 4s). Recs will be good, guaranteed (based on recs already written by the teachers who I will ask). The rest of my stats follow:

Schools that I'm looking at (in order of preference, sort of, but not really):
princeton
johns hopkins
stanford
harvard
bates
dartmouth
middlebury
haverford
pomona
cornell
carleton
macalester
suny albany (safety)

id say your a match for cornell and pomona. the others are either unpredictable (in my opinion) or i dont know enough about them...

thanks

does anybody know about the others, particularly jhu and princeton?

I don't see why you took that many SAT IIs, but okay.

Too many unpredictables, as sriharifez said.

bump...how competitive is jhu for a student like myself?

u shoud be in to jhu, if ur only top 10% and not 5% that could be an issue, more info about ur school where every1 gets 5s on ap's is needed, do applicants typically get into top schools from the 5-10%range? bc typically, they do not.

i agree that jhu is a match for you

you have excellent chances at pretty much all your schools. you might want to narrow that list down some using personal fit criteria, but you have solid chances at all of them (harvard, stanford...you're a very competitive applicant to both of these schools and princeton is really the same in terms of chances/selectivity)

good luck at TOC loser haha

at my school, typically the top 15-20% still gets into top schools. For example, I have two friends who just got decisions from cornell and uchicago. Both had GPAs around 3.75, which just barely squeezes them into the top 15%, if that. The second friend already got into umichigan honors (ann arbor). But not everybody in the top 15% goes to top schools, as our school doesn't rank. Both of the aforementioned individuals take challenging, but not the absolute most demanding courses, whereas I do (I'm right at the limit for course load). I don't know whether this will help too much in admissions, though.

come on suze...i know you're just waiting to crush my dreams with a healthy dose of reality

any more opinions?

aright then since rank was the only issue, ur academically fine for everywhere u applied and 15-17 is a ton. if u do crew u must be a private school person with a decent income and probly potential donor status which should get u into atleast one of the crapshoot schools on ur list. but yeah since ur academically qualified and test scored, no1 on this board will really be able to give u an estimate worth anything on a school like princeton, so good luck.

thanks, that about answers my question

good luck to everybody else going through the same stressful process
and thank you to all who have helped...this board is key to admissions survival
