how important are the essays for these programs and the other 7 year programs too?

Essays are important since they give the adcoms an insight into what kind of an applicant you are, what makes you unique, why should you be considered over another applicant with similar stats etc.

In terms of importance, SATs >> GPA>> essays and interviews.

TCNJ also asks that you provide essays toward your scholarship applications and if you want be considered for the honors program.

Essays and interviews help them narrow down to finalists. So, take them very seriously.

Good luck!

hey,

has anyone heard back from either schools connected with UMDNJ yet? last year desicions were out by this date, but the year before it took a week longer.

^ I have the same question as ducklover.

It's the last program I'm still waiting to hear back from (also my top choice). Do decisions come out my mail or phone?

I called UMDNJ, they said the results will come out the week of April 7th.

What other programs have you guys gotten into?
Chica, seeing that this is your top choice, if you get in what will you be turning down for it?

I'm going to be turning down VCU and the Drexel programs.
Good luck you guys!

Good luck everyone. It's a good choice if you get it.

for this program, does anyone know how much time people spend studying for MCAT.

Since there is no min requirement, i wanted to know if any program kids actually stress over the MCAT and study for an extended period of time

if i get into UMDNJ, i'll probably pass on the Drexel/Drexel program, Lehigh/Drexel program and Cornell.

toharvard is it because of the location?

Good luck to all of you!

Well the location is major as well as the type of degree that medicine is. Undergraduate school is good, but it mainly determines what medical school one gets into. Aside from that, the Drexel/Drexel programs are out of state and also have a financial difference from the UMDNJ program. In all the program would cost me between 170,000-200,000 dollars while Cornell would cost $200,000 just for undergraduate studies. So I guess location has something to do with it.

so basically, even though lehigh is better than rutgers/tcnj, it's because UMDNJ is a better med school than drexel med?

170-200k? what does that include? you didn't get any scholarships from the undergrads?

i did, that is the probable cost of the entire program.

for tcnj or rutgers?

basically for UMDNJ, the tuition+insurance now is about 26k for a year. with the average increase of 8% each year for tuition, it comes out to about 150-160k for medical school.

anybody received notifications yet?

I asked the people at TCNJ and they send the decisions are coming via mail.

did they say they've already mailed them out?

Any acceptances to TCNJ/UMDNJ to post?
