7 years at Boston University...

This is the official thread for BU's 7 year medical program...now TALK!!!

There's not a lot of info on their website.. how many people get in?

One of my friends got into HPME and BU and chose BU because he got a full ride for undergrad or something, so is it true that BU offers great merit scholarships?

... you have a lot of friends who got into really good med programs.

ya ive never even heard of these programs until i came to this site
now i plan applying to them!!

BU is VERY hard to get into...and im not sure but they might even give special consideration towards in-state kids only
dont quote me on that tho

haha shrizto, now only if I get into a good med program...

money, since BU is a private university, it doesn't recieve tax $ from in-state ppl so it shouldn't favor them..and if it does...ahhhh grrr

there's a girl from boston in my med program at pitt who lives in boston who applied to BU's program and she said that it's actually harder for kids in the local area to be accepted. maybe i should've gone? haah

when do you think the applications will be up?

Good question...I will email them and ask when it will be up..

Yes. BU tends to provide great scholorships if you are in top 5% of the graduating class with good stats.

Those who get accepted into BS/MD program, generally get automatic 100% tuition (about 17k/year). But remember, even if you get 100% tuition paid, at BU, living is pretty expensive and you will still end up paying close to $20k for dorm+food+misc if you are an out-of-state student.

By the way, I believe they accepted about 30 kids in this program this year.
Try looking Lergnorm's posts. Although he is not supporting Premeds, he could direct you to others in BS/MD program.

I think they accepted about 50 something kids and there are 32 of us next year in the freshman class. And no they do not give very much merit aid to kids in the program bc it is incentive enough to go there...i know one girl got the trustee scholarship..some others got half...but a lot of people got very little or none

Hi krikey,

Thanks for the info. That surprises me. I didn't know. My S got 50% University schol there although he never applied for any merit aid on his own.

UMDNJ/TCNJ is far better with aid. From what I hear, every single person who got accepted in their BS/MD program received 100% tuition.

BU was more expensive even with 50% since their dorm+food is not cheap/year.
